A six figure sum was easily gained when further possessions from the estate of the late Baronness Thatcher went under the hammer at Sloane Street Auctions on 6th February
The sale saw a second batch of possessions to be catalogued at the popular auction house on the Fulham Road. The auction room was packed with bidders keen to snap up a piece of history through objects once owned by one of Britain’s most iconic – and controversial – Prime Ministers.
An oil on canvas portrait by the Scottish portraitist Anne Mackintosh fetched £42,000 and a small bronze bust went for £19,000. A silver dagger-style letter opener sold for £10,000 and even a pair of modest, plain silver coasters went for £3,000.
