RBKC leader Cllr Elizabeth Campbell has today sent out an urgent letter to all chairs of Residents Associations across the borough with a stark warning about the council’s gloomy finances.
Following a Funding Reform review by central government, RBKC will receive £108m LESS from Treasury coffers. She has warned that, as a direct consequence of this, residents should brace themselves for a reduction in public services and a sharp increases in council tax charges.
She writes: ‘I want to ensure everyone understands the challenge the Council’s general fund is facing and the strain this creates.’
The Citizen is looking into the story in detail. For now, here is Cllr Campbell’s letter in full.
Happy New Year.
